MTN is in talks with companies to launch mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) services in South Africa, said MTN’s chief enterprise officer Alpheus Mangale.

Currently, the majority of South Africa’s MVNOs run on Cell C’s network, with the exception of Afrihost and its subsidiary Axxess’s mobile services – which use MTN.

It is worth noting that MTN bought a controlling stake in Afrihost on 2 June 2014.

Mangale said MTN plans to expand its MVNO offering in the coming months.

MTN is in discussions with partners in the financial space and other sectors, said Mangale.
