Free data and SMSs from Cell C
Earlier this week, members of the MyBroadband forums reported that they received free data and SMSs when they recharged their Cell C prepaid accounts.
The offer requires a minimum recharge of R50 and gives subscribers 10MB of data and 1 SMS for every R1 recharged. According to the SMS received after recharging, the complimentary data and SMSs expire at midnight on Sunday every week.
Further details of the promotion surfaced on Friday (1 July 2011) in a brochure that was received by MyBroadband.
According to the brochure, the promotion is called “Recharge Rewards” and is “expected to be active” for a limited time from 1 July 2011 to 30 September 2011.
The document confirmed that the minimum amount that needed to be recharged was R50 and that the maximum is effectively R100 (giving you 1000MB data and 100 SMSs).

It also clarified that the minimum need not come from a single recharge, but is cumulative over the course of the week. “Midnight on Sunday” Freebies last until 23h59 on the Sunday of the week in which the recharge was loaded.
Cell C’s Recharge Rewards promotion will be open to all their prepaid customers, the brochure said.
