Vodacom has just revealed that they will be launching Apple’s latest smartphone, the iPhone 4S, on 16 December 2011.

Industry sources previously informed MyBroadband that the iPhone 4S would be available in South Africa before the end of 2011 as part of the third wave of releases worldwide.

This third batch of the iPhone 4S roll-out began on 11 November 2011, but it was unclear when exactly the device would be making its way to South Africa.

According to Apple, the iPhone 4S promises improved battery life, a better camera (8 megapixel with 1080p video recording), and 14.4Mbps HSPA. The iPhone 4S also boasts a voice control system called Siri.

Vodacom has opened “pre-registrations” for users eager to get their hands on an iPhone 4S, but could not provide any pricing guidelines.
