Poco Supercomputer – a multi-function, Pi gadget for under R5,400
A new Indigogo campaign is raising funds for the Poco Supercomputer – a multi-function, credit card-size device from Sinclair, powered by the Raspberry Pi chipset.
“Poco is an action camera, a gaming console, a hi-res music player and recorder with up to 18 times higher quality than MP3, plus an Internet-ready web browser in your pocket,” said Sinclear.
The Poco is priced at $380 (R5,371), while a waterproof version is available for $455 (R6,432).
The device features:
Action camera
Poco can shoot 1080p video and 5MP still images from its front and back cameras, and includes a superbright and programmable Cree LED flash.
Gaming device
Download games like Minecraft or Quake from the online Pi community, and use the twin analogue joysticks and dual shoulder buttons to game.
Music player and recorder
Poco can play and record hi-res music that is studio quality – up to 18 times higher quality than MP3.
Internet ready, integrated Wi-Fi
The Poco features Wi-Fi connectivity.
Creative tool
Poco is packed with programmable hardware, and has over 400 miniature components ‘shoe-horned’ under its hood casing.
Supertough construction
Poco’s body is made from a metal alloy, which is tough and light.
