Surprising FNB mobile device stats
FNB recently revealed that 76% of their clients visiting their online banking services are using an iPhone or iPad – much higher than all other brands put together.
FNB launched its new website on Sunday 14 July, aimed at creating a consistent experience across all devices. The focus on a mobile friendly experience is very evident in the new design.
Around 10% of FNB’s banking clients are currently accessing the website via a mobile device – up from 4% a year ago.
The big news is not the growth in mobile users – it is the very high percentage of FNB users with Apple devices.
According to FNB’s latest statistics, 60% of their mobile banking clients use an iPad, and 16% an iPhone.
These figures dwarf other popular mobile devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 (3%), Samsung Galaxy S3 (3%) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (3%).
The high percentage of FNB clients with Apple devices may be related to the bank’s long running promotions on iPads and iPhones, but even with this in mind it remains surprisingly high.
FNB said that they are seeing strong growth for both Apple and Samsung products. The biggest loser is BlackBerry, with a huge drop in users.
