Plex now on the new Apple TV

A Plex client is now available on Apple TV, TechCrunch has reported.

Plex is a client/server media streaming application which runs on a variety of platforms.

It lets you run a server on a Mac, Linux, or Windows machine, where you must set it to index the video files you want the server to make available.

Client software may then be downloaded onto media players, mobile devices, and smart TVs to stream this media.

The Plex server also has a web client which you can use to watch your video content from your PC’s browser.

Until now, Apple TV users had to jump through hoops to get Plex working through a third-party rebuild of the official Plex iOS app, TechCrunch said.

However, as of 3 November,  a universal Plex app is available on iTunes.
