New Mac Pro launch date, prices announced
The new Mac Pro from Apple will be on sale from its online store and selected authorised resellers from Thursday, 19 December 2013, the company announced in a press release.
This is after Apple said at its event on 22 October 2013 that the Mac Pro would launch before the end of the year.
Apple’s senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, previously revealed pricing and specification for the base model Mac Pro.
The Apple website now lists another, higher spec model as well.
Mac Pro ports
For $2,999, the Mac Pro comes with the following hardware:
- 3.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor;
- 12GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory;
- Dual AMD FirePro D300 with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM each; and
- 256GB PCIe-based flash storage.
For $3,999, Apple has the following Mac Pro on offer:
- 3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor;
- 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory;
- Dual AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM each; and
- 256GB PCIe-based flash storage.
