iPhone 5s, iPhone 5C SA launch window rumours
Pre-orders for the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s haven’t opened overseas, and yet the local rumour-mill is already going full-tilt, with talk of an SA launch as early as October 2013.
However, more believable industry speculation suggests that a November 2013 launch is more likely for the new iPhones in South Africa, as part of Apple‘s fourth launch wave .
It’s worth noting that South African launch date speculation for the iPhone 5 was also optimistic about an October 2012 launch, but the device only became available in December 2012.
The iPhone 4S was announced on 4 October 2011 and launched in South Africa on 16 December 2011. Stock shortages plagued the initial launch, with many customers reporting that they were only able to get their hands on a device in early in 2012.
Apple announced the iPhone 5 on 12 September 2012 and despite much speculation of an earlier launch, the phone only made it to South Africa on 14 December 2012.
The iPhone 5s and 5c were announced on Tuesday, 10 September 2013, and it remains to be seen whether the optimistic rumours of an October launch pan out this year.
