Apple iPhones fail more often than Android smartphones – Study
A study from Blancco Technology Group states that iOS devices have a higher failure rate than Android devices – with the iPhone 6 the worse performer.
As reported by Softpedia, the study focussed on the “State of Mobile Device Performance and Health” for Q2 2016 – finding that iOS devices had a 58% failure rate.
The iPhone 6 had the highest failure rate of 29%, followed by the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Android smartphones had an overall failure rate of 35% – an improvement from 44% in Q1 2016.
“Samsung, Lenovo, and LeTV were among the manufacturers with the weakest performance and higher failure rates. Samsung scored 26% in failure rate, while Motorola just 11%,” stated the report.
Main issues
The main issues iOS device owners faced were not being able to connect to a Wi-Fi network, dropped connections, and incorrect password prompts, stated the report.
The main problems Android device owners faced were camera issues, battery charging problems, touchscreen issues, app crashes, and random reboots.
The study also revealed that 50% of iOS applications crashed in Q2, compared to 23% of Android apps.
