Android is as secure as the iPhone – Google
Adrian Ludwig, the director of security at Android, has said that Google’s mobile OS provides “nearly identical” security capabilities as iOS for “almost all threat models”.
According to a report by Motherboard, Ludwig said there’s “no doubt that a Google Pixel and an iPhone are pretty much equal when it comes to security”.
Android will soon overtake iOS, he added.
“In the long term, the open ecosystem of Android is going to put it in a much better place.”
Motherboard stated that Ludwig did not mention that Android has been around for over eight years.
Ludwig said Android’s built-in security product called Safety Net scans 400 million devices and checks 6 billions apps per day.
This has resulted in less than 1% of Android devices containing malware.
