Nokia CEO warns Android phone makers

While Nokia is making use of Windows Phone 7 for future handsets, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop had some words of warning for rival manufacturers like Samsung and HTC that make use of the Android OS after Google’s bid to purchase Motorola Mobility.

Speaking at a seminar in Helsinki, Elop said, “If I happened to be someone who was an Android manufacturer or an operator, or anyone with a stake in that environment, I would be picking up my phone and calling certain executives at Google and say ‘I see signs of danger ahead.”

Elop’s speech at the seminar went on to suggest that the logic behind choosing Microsoft Windows Phone 7 over Android is for long term stability, though the Nokia CEO refrained from explicitly stating as much.
