Does the iphone 3G from vodacom work on MTN?

I am planning on buying a Iphone on prepaid from vodacom,the problem is my contract is with MTN.

So will the iphone 3G work with my MTN sim card?

So will I be able to use a MTN sim card in the devise automatically or will I have to jailbreak and unlock the devise first?
 
You do not have to jailbreak the phone. You can even activate a new South African (Vodacom) phone with a MTN sim card installed. The Apple server check the serial number and if it is a South African serial number activate the phone.

So when I get the phone I can just put my MTN sim card in the phone and iphone and phoning will work fine?
