I know the Sonys have been doing this for years - and there are apps for iPhone, BB etc that do the same thing (listen for 10 seconds, fetch from a database).

SUrely something similar must exist for a PC? :/
Anyone know of one?

The autotagger built into winamp is pretty awesome. I've even ripped Youtube videos, converted them from flv to mp3 MYSELF and it's managed to correctly auto-tag them......aaaaand some of them were even Japanese.

So yeah, if that isn't impressive I sure as hell don't know what is.

What's the audio quality of youtube vids?

Wrt to Tagging I don't wanna high jack the thread but also have question or two.

I have over 100GB of music in different folders and also some duplicates.

Can a tagging utility automatically scan these folders/files and change the filename to one set standard ie Artist-Album-Song.mp3 for example?

My music collection is a royal mess and need fixing.

Yip. Toxicbunny posted a link to an app that could do this really well. I ignored it though so can't remember the name...:o :D

The Godfather also deserves a mention. Not auto tagging, but it gives an excel style grid that is very usefully for mass editing of tags & can also do various other nifty things. Tricky to use though.

128kbps is the norm.
