So is this a national or local issue?
No email, interent, nada, nothing....

Call centre can't help as usual, why, erm cause they also down and they dont know who, why, where or what.

Hugo any news or feedback when we will be connected again?

yeh and they cant blame seacom or which ever under sea cable this time cause 3G is just fine.
So Neotel, did someone trip over the wrong cable, or maybe forget to pay a bill?
come on, its been 5 hours now and counting

Im down too. Prime Unlimited (yes STILL cause the jokers havent upgraded me to wimax yet) Bedfordview/Oriel. So disappointed. So much for their promised improvements....wonder if any of the WIMAX people are still connected and getting service?

I think only those who can't get adsl are still with Neotel :(

Any word on when internet access will be restored?

I'm moving over to Telkom and Mweb uncapped ADSL... Tomorrow!!!

Do it. I dragged my feet and made excuses till a few months back when I had an opportunity. Thought it would be full of pain but it was so easy.

EDIT: I'm convinced Telkom staff get commission, so go in-store and apply. You will be amazed at how their service has improved.

Finally restored at 04:00 after 14 hours of downtime.

Hugo, why were we the only ones affected? ADSL users were fine all along

Seacom is international leg, couldn't even use local! Must be something bigger...transparency is needed.

Hopefully we will see an article from RPM with more details soon.

I dont buy into this seacom was down story because
A. 3G was fine
B. No local, everything was dead

Still quite crappy, its slow as hell again...

the internet with neotel:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

Hugo, feedback please. I believe local would've been fine if the problem was the Seacom link.

I called the Tech Call centre yesterday and asked if he knew what the problem was and when it would be fixed.

He said he had no idea when it would be back. I queried the reason for the outage and he said he had no information about that either.

I asked him to pass on my feedback to his managers that when a service goes down, it is critical that representatives of the organisation are informed as to the reason for the outage - even if they don't know when service will be restored.

It looks incredibly bad when a high-tech company can't identify the reason behind a network failure after 2 hours.

Hugo, hope you are reading this...

It was not only Neotel, those ISP's thats using the seacom line was down aswell.. My DSL was down aswell, because my ISP ( Mweb ) use seacom, was down for 1-2hours then they switched all clients to SAIX, because the seacom line was down untill 4am this morning.
