Vodacom broadband advertising is back

At long last common sense prevailed! Glad about this decision by the ASA.

Going through the data for this submission, a couple of really interesting stats came up. One was the average speed of over 2Mb/s, the other one how much data some users download. Up to a few Gig per day for some of them.

Peak speeds hovered around 14Mb/s, BTW, with 8Mb/s+ quite common.

Great stuff... now, back to pricing...

How about a downward adjustment on the cost or an upward adjustment on the volume per product?

Sure use MyBB survey results when it suits you Vodacom otherwise avoid everything else we say like the Black plague!!

Vodacom did not give up, and in its latest submission to the ASA they ensured that the research was suitably accredited and that a very large sample was provided.

In SA this translates to "Vodacom did not give up, and in its latest submission to the ASA they ensured that there was a nice thick brown envelope provided" :-P

I still won't consider anything relating to Vodacom as broadband until those prices drop. I will still call it a RIP-OFF before I call it 'broadband'.

I for one couldn't care less if the call it Broadband, Narrowband, 4G, 4Gs, 24G or any combination of characters - there are more important issues at stake.
When, IF EVER, will Vodacom realise that for many users R/Mb is far more important than Mb/s? At one stage you could get a faster service if you paid more. Why can't Vodacom customers elect a slower service and pay less?
It seems the only realistic alternative is 4Gs, which delivers nicely on BOTH R/Mb and Mb/s.

Every 2nd month I buy a 2.3GB Package on my contract, pretty much cause I can't get asdl. I hate spending my hard earned money paying R170/BG but I need internet at home. If Cell C can provide bandwidth at a quarter of the price it just makes it worse. Thank goodness I am moving in the next few months 4Mb Uncapped here we come :)
I have been with vodacom for the last 8 years, I think it's time to support the underdog (4 Better Awesomeness)

I wonder when they going to rename it to BroadRAND! There pricing is based on the relativity of the mayan calendar to elton john; you can actually save about R50 buying 5 x 2GB than buying a 10GB data bundle...
And there biggest trick, is the broadband ADVANCED... They offer you less data, for more! and their speeds are lies... On a full signal My download speeds jumped to 550KBps (4.3mbps).. Never seen those speeds again... They keep me at 320KBps (2.5mbps).. Their nightowl promotion is worse advertising than Cell C's 4Gs... They advertise: ''buy a mygig 1, and get a gig free!!''but what they should say is: ''sign a 24 month contract of 1gig, and get a gig free''

@RPM: Happy to see that common sense has prevailed and VC can rightfully call their service "broadband", THAT HOWEVER DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE HEADLINE HSPA+ 21.1 MBPS, Rudolph. You yourself interviewed Pieter Uys and he stated very clearly that only a small subset of VC's network has HSPA+ capable sites.
