I've put this purposely in the Vodacom section so certain people can see it before it's moved.

Cleary, there's an an issue on Vodacom BIS as many have experienced over the the past few months. However everyone just gets together and points out about issues. How about a representitve or maangement confirming?

Is there an issue with BIS currently?
Do Vodacom know if there is - and why there is?
Is it to be corrected shortly?

It relates to Blackberry ;)

The last Vodacom Blackberry question I asked, was move to the the Blackberry section where - I suspect - no one visits.

I'm in Randpark Ridge and although you don't have an issue, I definatley do and it's ruining the Blackberry experience. Many guys have expressed the same symptons as I have (either disconnects for 5-10 minutes or no throughput while connected) All I'd like is an acknowledgement to say 'we are aware of a few issues in Johannesburg and it's because of xyz'

AFAIK, they had an overscribed BIS before I launched but most knew about it at least.

I understand where you're coming from Dolby, a friend of mine in another province wanted to get rid of her BB because of BIS issues.

Hopefully the rep acknowledges the problem.

Hi , there was a transmission problem on the BRYANSTON 6 BSC (BR06). where the GBL links were down. These links are responsible for GPRS.

I move Blackberry related topics to the Blackberry forum because generally you will have a better chance that other Blackberry users will read it and can comment if they are experiencing the same thing or not, in which case you know if you should be fixing your phone or calling 155 to log a fault. There are also other Vodacom people I am aware of that monitor the Blackbery forums, but not this one.

I've received comments from users and I'm pretty sure there is something wrong - and has been for months.

I wanted a Vodacom representive to acknowledge though

There was only a problem on the 26 and 29 October ans has been resolved. If you are experiencing further problems then log it with 082155.

Regards

I've reported the issue and I must say, the Vodacom staff are pretty jacked.

Came to to the house, did a few tests and now I think I need to wait for the report?

Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but I'm awaiting a 'sorry Sir - you should be getting a full 14.4mbps as signal/network issues are non existent. All 5 of your devices are inccorect and need firmware upgrades or new SIMs'

We'll see though

Why I moan about Vodacom BIS

I decided to stare at my phone for about almost 2 hours to see when BIS was on and off. I've always guessed around 20% downtime - but here are the figures it was OFF :

19:32 - 19:41 (9 minutes)
19:56 - 20:09 (13 minutes)
20:33 - 20:40 (7 minutes)
21:04 - 21:10 (6 minutes)
22.05 - 22:10 (5 minutes)
22.35 - 22:40 (5 minutes)

Does anyone actually blame for being upset for paying R1,000.00+pm for a non existent service?
All this time it's FULL signal and 3G - with a 128k SIM card.
I had a Bold9700 with 32k SIM cards - but the same issue.

What am I supposed to do? :/
VodacomData - is there any reply to the engineer coming out here?

* Posting in the Blackberry section - as well as Vodacom in order to perhaps get a reply

I've been there I hate BB, just need it for emails.
I suggest u wipe the device, register your routing tables, change your apn to internet.

That's what I did, now I'm a happy chappy... Well a sane chappy.
I also loaded OS6, if it messed up my phone I was gonna get something else.

Changing APN makes it ... a normal phone?

You don't think perhaps it's Vodacom?
Are you in Gauteng by any chance?

None of MTN friends moan - ever.

If they get 5 minutes downtime in a week, it's alot. If I get 5 minutes within the hour, I'm super chuffed

Where you based?

I know muliple people on Voda and they all have problems. I mean - wouldn't you call 40 minutes in 2 hrs a problem!

EDIT : Coastal location again

No - for everything ...

2 x BIS accounts at a total of R760.00 - as well as a Top Up, data and netbook at R450.00 - so R1,200pm to Vodacom in total. The point is I'm getting 70% uptime on BIS when it's running which is - in my eyes - unacceptable.

Basically 3 of my 4 contracts are useless.
