Cell C 21 Mbps HSPA+ launched in Gauteng

Cell C has recently complimented its prepaid pricing with twelve month contract offerings which are significantly cheaper than those offered by Vodacom, MTN and the newly launched 8ta.

1. The first package offers a modem capable of speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and 2GB of data per month for R149 per month.
2. The second package offers a modem capable of speeds of up to 21Mbps and 5GB of data per month for R299 per month.

Cell C have also announced data bundles with the following pricing: R50 for 100MB, R100 for 250MB, R150 for 500MB, R250 for 1GB and R400 for 2GB.

Why the big difference?

Sticks on sale

While Cell C's official Gauteng launch was held today in Sandton, the operator said that it only plans on making its modems and data packages available in the province on Friday, 19 November.

Just bought a 7.2Mbps Cell C stick at Greenstone. Was their first customer. Works like a bomb as I am probably the only person on the network in the Modderfontein area.

 Based on a free modem a 5Gb package works out at R60/Gb

How do they get to R200/Gb on a bundle? This sounds like VC accounting!

:wtf: Anybody in his right mind who wants 2Gb/month extra would be better of buying another package at R149/month

Whoever prepared this business model didn't spend a lot of time thinking about it...

LoL. Seems so.

It's much better to just buy an extra data sim for R999 and get an extra 2 gigs a month for 12 months than to pay R400 once-off for 2 gigs that will only last for 1 month.

That way for the equivalent of R333.34 a month you get a 21meg modem and 7 gigs of data.

I agree on the Pricing difference, I normally get a 2.3GB package from Vodacom every 2 or so months for R384 (or close to that price) so it's more expensive. Does not make any sense!

wHAT THE FSCK IS THIS?

Maybe it's because the speedstick stuff is a launch offer and will go up in future (I doubt it, like Afrihosts limited R29/gb accounts). They could put the speedstick prices up and say that was a launch offer but if they drop the prices of data bundles they can't really put them back up.

Cell C FTW!

going to get my sim this weekend, first neet to get my Vodacom 3G modem unlocked

Prices will only get lower... well done cell c, can't wait to get rid of my VC 3G...

Cant zoom in enough to see if my house is covered. I think not though, I don't have 3G for vodacom or mtn either.

Reichelt pointed out that places like Tembisa, Benoni, Boksburg, Krugersdorp aren't covered yet

Well for as long as Benoni is not covered, I am not happy!
