DStv Mobile launched at R36 per month

I think this subscription is very affordable. Hopefully the video is watchable and not horribly compressed like the video streamed over IP. You won't be able to watch cricket on the SS1 mobile channel in that case.

Well it's good news, especially since they're offering SS1, 2 and 3.

I just wish it was supported on more handsets. If it was compatible with my N8, I'd drop my Premium bouquet and output it via HDMI to my TV.

Although it begs the question - if they can offer those channels on a mobile platform at those prices, why is it not possible to offer the same bouquet via satellite?

Now if you can send it on Wi_fi to a laptop what sort of resolution would that picture be like?

I am pretty sure this will be compatible with the N8. It does have a DBV-H receiver in it if I'm not mistaken...?

So you have to pay MNET and Vodacom/MTN/Cell C for data?

Great point. Just shows how Multichoice milks us due to the lack of competition in some of its programming i.e. sport. Money money money...

You're right actually - it is, although via a separate headset :)

Guess I'll be testing this then to see what the quality is like when output to the TV. If it works then they can say goodbye to my Premium subscription!

LoL. Free TV! YAY! (You can pick DVB-H tuners for next to nothing on ebay)

Apparently you can stream the video to your pc via the Drifter device. But that rightly raises the question of Raphael123. Can someone shed some light on the technical specs of their broadcast? Resolution, codecs, data rate...?

Cool, that will look great on my iPad - using the drifter to wirelessly stream the broadcast onto the iPad. Just hope the picture quality will be good on a large device

Anyone know when the full channel list will be posted? Might not be a bad idea at R40 a month!

The Drifta will be available for R599 from major retailers from 1 December and the service can be activated via the MultiChoice call centre or the DStv Mobile website.

I'll pass, happy to watch on my 42" screen.
