I wrecked my system.
In brief, my PC won’t boot up. So while Googling to fix this I was told to put it into safe mode from the dos command. This didn’t solve anything.
Now I’ve managed to get a startup repair disk but I need to get it back to normal mode first but for the life of me I can’t find that site again.
Please help me with the dos command to do this? I don't even remember what command I used to get it into safe mode.
OS is 7 64bit.

Have you tried putting the original install DVD in and selecting the repair windows option?

The new Windows 7 repair menu is quite extensive and allows for quite a large scope of repair functions and tasks.
Of course exactly how you wrecked your system will impact to what extent this will help you.

I would suggest you investigate a drive cloning tool ala Clonezilla to make a image of your drive before trying anything else.. so you can preserve your data if nothing else.

Then once you have made this image backup, you can then attempt various things.

I found what I was looking for.

bcdedit /deletevalue safeboot

But my problems haven't been sorted. The thing is I can't find the install cd. It must be here somewhere.
Fortunately I can put the hard drive in my external enclosure and access it on my laptop. Looks like a reinstall is on the horizon.

Off topic: I was wondering who has the highest post count and so far you're the man The_Librarian...or woman.
