WikiLeaks' Swedish servers appear to be under attack

I am not surprised given the sensitive nature of the recent releases. So rather than go through conventional means to shut down "rogue" websites, rather shut it down through cyberwarfare.

The attack can't be very effective. The site loads instantly in my browser.

I disagree. The site is overstepping the mark here regardless of whether the US is right or wrong with their intel and methods.

It's not wrong to lie, cheat, steal, corrupt, and torture, but it is wrong to let people know about it?

Every democry is for freedom of speech but some information needs to kept secret. The q is who decide what needs to be kept secret. I think it must be a moral decision. This information is out so use itm don,t attack the messengers. The information is like nuclar waste. Donkt keep it if it is bad if it leeksm they kept the info to be used by themselfs, they are fighting the wrong people because it was leeked

This is the exact statement i made a few days ago.. basically people say its wrong for Wikileaks to release sensitive information, basically America can't be painted with the same paintbrush they paint Iraq or any of their enemies? **** outta here

How did wikileaks get the info? Oh yeah.. .that's right, somebody stole it. :D

true they stole it... for a greater cause don't you think? If you didn't know your neighbour was skinning 15yr old girls, and someone stole the evidence in his house to show you.. does it make the person who stole it more wrong for the theft?

Ok, the question in my mind now is "Who the hell would want to attack WikiLeaks?"... Either some clueless script kiddies, or this is some more affirmative evidence for the illuminati, perhaps ?

That is the way of the world, its all ok until you get caught. Unless you are America in which case it is still ok even after you get caught.

Your scenario is defective.

I would actually differ with the original statement. It has never been proven that the information was actually stolen. (Stolen implies an unauthorized person gained illegal access to the stolen item). If the "leak" had full, authorized and legal access to the information, and decided to pass the information on to Wikileaks, it's not quite theft in the way we usually look at it. Its more of an Intellectual Property Rights infringement of sorts.

Also, this reminds me of the whole debate around software piracy. Yes, it is wrong, but is it really "theft" if the person still has everything they had before you pirated it?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...Bradley-Manning-prime-suspect-leaks-case.html

But perhaps the most extraordinary element of the WikiLeaks breach is how the data was smuggled out of a U.S. army base on CDs - and finally downloaded onto a memory stick.

The prime suspect is U.S. soldier Bradley Manning, a ‘hot-headed loner’ who grew up in Britain and is currently in solitary confinement awaiting trial over the WikiLeaks disclosures.

Meanwhile, Manning, who is openly homosexual, is sitting in a military prison awaiting his fate.

He faces a maximum of 52 years in jail.
