Where did all the 1920x1200 widescreen monitors go?

What resolution do you prefer on your primary monitor?

There, I knew it wasn't just me.. [tinfoil hat] it's an evil conspiracy to make us all use TV screens. One step closer to TV-gameness. [/tinfoil hat] I hate 16:9 on a PC, it feels like looking through a mailbox.

um, mine (at work) is 1440 x 900 ... standard 19/18.5 inch wide LCD monitor. That still seems to be the entry level in South Africa.

at home it is 1680 x 1050 (23 inch).

I don't need much bigger.... I just prefer two monitors side by side.

What happened to screens for, you know, productivity. 16:9 doesn't make sense to me for excel etc. I'd rather have two or three square screens.

Agreed! I got my Samsung T260 not that long ago though so they still around. I think the problem is that 16:10 monitors are just pricey compared to 16:9 HD monitors.

Nah I like my 24" of pleasure with 1920x1200. But the point of the article is even 1680x1050 aren't being made anymore. They're also 16:10

Yes, that's what they say in the article. It makes sense. a "full HD" display has 230400 less pixels than a 1920x1200 so it should be cheaper to make.

Edit: Also: Take that picture down, it's too pornographic for this site.

I fusking hate wide screen! it messes everything up!

For me 16:10 is great for that balance between work and gaming. T260 FTW.

Agreed.

I heart my T260 so much.

I don't like the T260 so much - it felt a little too big, so I went for the smaller brother, the T240, which I love :D Isn't there a way to optimise the manufacturing costs a bit? I really hate traditional widescreen monitors....

Guess who doesn't own a widescreen :D

I agree and depending on the size of your monitor, switching down to 16:9 when you need to is fine. You'd have to be really anal to nitpick about the thin black lines which blend in perfectly well with a black monitor :)
