Surround Sound/Home Theatre Bargains

You didn't give a budget :p That being said, this sub isn't exactly bottom-end. They have more entry-level orientated subs as well. It's an excellent brand.

According to my receiver settings, it goes as low as 40Hz. So shouldn't I be looking for a 40Hz sub and up?

Your speaker goes as low as 25Hz.

It could go as low as 40 but that's impeding on its performance on the rest of the frequency range. Get a sub and set it for 80hz and below, or 70,60, see what suits you best.

Your main speaker is for bass that you can hear, the sub is for bass that you can feel.

Ok bonus time is coming up for me. I'll try my luck and negotiate at Audio/Vision again.

Ok guys im looking for some sound.

This is my current set up which is not working.

Samsung 51'' plasma viewing distance about 3- 4 m.
only 1 rug in a 30 sqm room with wooden floors.

Currently the sound is so muffled that I cannot hear what the people are saying on the TV.

Limitations i have are as follows. Its an apartment so i my sound does not need to blow the roof off. just need clarity
I cant run any new wires as it is a slab and i hate exposed wiring so I either need wireless rear speakers or just a sound bar.

Budget is max R3000.

Other peripherals is a ps3 and WD live

Any recommendations?

Think I should buy the wifi bridge thing for my Yamaha? It's R1220

So which way did you go?

Still using my old Sony sub, and the two Sony towers as surround speakers.

This is a piecemeal upgrade, unfortunately.

I will add the PSB SubSeries 200 sub and a Synchrony S surround (in bipole mode) at some point.

Well I'm thinking of the Velodyne sub but it's just too expensive (R12 900). I saw a PSB sub for R7k...also expensive but...I need to complete my system.

I have the Mission MV8e cinema pack for surround.

One day it hope to move somewhere where i can use my subs to their full potential.

I bought th samsung bd f6400 for R5100. Has smart capabilities anf wireless rear speakers. Set up a plex server with all my media, ethernet over powerline for stutter free playback. The next thing I need is some sort of NAS

Is this good? R10 a meter at an AV shop and R79 at PNP.
