What is the point then? Red Bull pays Cell C for advertising their brand?

Yes, this is a marketing ploy. If this venture works out great, Red Bull could then 'separate' themselves and become it's own network but that is probably unlikely for awhile. Either way, Cell C is doing whatever they can to get customers.

If they offer anything like they do in Austria they'll be the happy kind.

For 29 Euros per month they get
A Motorola Defy
2,000 minutes
2,000 sms
2,000 Megabytes
16 TV Channels

That's a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. There's a 19 Euro option too with "only" 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 1,000 Megabytes.

I don´t think this MVNO is new in SA, there is Econet from Zimbabwe, maybe not too popular because it serves mostly zimbabweans (cheap call home service) has about more than 500000 subscriber already in 12months of operation, this also piggyback off Cell C´s network. This was in september last year and now could be more. Find related article on techizm website
