We should be Telkom’s guiding light says the DoC

pity they can't even guide a light up their own @#$holes... never mind a failing parastatal.

To re-phrase: "We, the DoC, have been appointing idiots to the Telkom Board who do not have a clue as to what they are doing. We are too scared to relinquish control as Telkom is our cash cow and we want to milk it some more."
 
I'm not sure if i should be happy or sad that government is loosing its control over telkom.....

I do know that even with a giant soccer stadium full of floodlights that we still could not guide telkom anywhere...

So the government decided to "sort of" privatize Telkom and made lots of money. Now they say that they need more control? Wow

But the minister wants the unbundling process to be tied to commitments from operators to provide broadband services into rural and other underserviced parts of the country.

The business model of LLU basically requires the 'haves' to be serviced first in order to generate the lucritive profits required to build out to the 'have nots'.

So very much depends on how onerous these commitments will be from a timeframe prespective. Make them too harsh, and he can unbundle what he likes, there just aint gonna be any takers.
 
DoC would more than likely get their shares stolen, just like Telkom have their copper cable stolen lol.

So you didn't do your job properly, and now you're underhandedly trying to extend that control over Telkom. Remind me why we need these useless scumbag money-suckers from government again?

The DoC’s previous ‘managed liberalisation’ policies essentially protected Telkom’s monopoly, stifling competition resulting in very high fixed line rates.

Guiding light? If the DoC was environmentally friendly they could have appointed a firefly to guide Telkom. At least Telkom would be able to see the light.
 
And Jacob was so quick to tell all over the weekend that "nationalisation" was not the ANC's policy? :wtf:
 
If Telkom can't even survive as a monopoly, in it's privelidged position, then it should drop dead. Telkom should be broken up into pieces, sold off to the private sector (not in a preferenced BEEEEEEEE transaction where ANC chronies will pick up the shares) and compete for businesses as seperate entities. This offcourse will never happen because SA is unionized and ANC chronies won't wanna miss out on the gravy train.
 
Telkom has been in the dark so long, any light will totally blind them.

You can't do this to Telkom!! *sniff*
