Logitech Driving Force GT racing sim kit review (MyBroadband)

After two years mine is now falling apart :(

I'm glad I've never bought one although I've been tempted more than once but honestly - this gaming segment is way overpriced. If they retailed for 30% of the current price I'd consider one but they are obviously poorly made. Unfortunately those that are well made cost as much as a runaround for your student kid.

Other than that minor flaw with the paddle mount, the steering wheel is on par with G27 or better wheels. Have one and GT5 hasn't been the same since I got it.

I disagree. I have the legendary Logitech Momo Racing wheel that I bought in 2005. It is unbelievably strong and cost me R800 at the time...It is still rock solid...!

Dont get me wrong. Two years is a long time considering I throw it around aggressively for around 2 hours a day. It is well worth the price considering the number of hours of joy it brings. I didn't expect it to last so long considering the abuse you have to put those things through in games like GT5 and rfactor.

R800 for a game controller... see this is what we have become accustomed to... Just looking at that plastic bracket makes me close my wallet.

The kit they're referring to also includes an adjustable seat (and a rather comfy racing seat at that), encrypted. You're not getting only the wheel and pedals in the kit.

Anyway, I've used the various iterations of the Driving Force GT and honestly, I'd far sooner get the G25 or G27 without a seat and for 3x as much - I have never and will never like small form factor wheels, they just don't feel right when driving a virtual car with the handling of a car, not a gokart.

Yes, but it's halfway to the price of a new console. Value for money? Serious racing enthusiasts maybe, but only because there's nothing better out there for the money.
I agree re: the small wheel, unless there's more realistic feedback, it doesn't help the overall effect IMO.
