Cell C launches 42 Mbps in Port Elizabeth

So what speed are you guys getting down there?

Must be flying at the launch site? Are you getting better speeds than the <1Mb/s you were getting at the hotel near the event?

Now my 7.2Mbps speedstick sounds ridiculously slow

On the other hand though, I hardly ever reach 7Mbps anyway.

Dude. I am sure sure you are working for vodacon. All you do is bash cell c in every thread about them.I have tried them and they work pretty well good. Not like vodacon is doing anything better. All you do in the cell c subforum is rant. Now go back to your bosses and tell them that we dont take crap here.

What is the hype about the speed increase if the caps are too tiny for us to actually use the 42Mbps come on like seriously now -- if CELL C offered 100 gig for R300 per month I would sign up immediately. Lets wait for the new cables to land in South Africa and see if they make an impact

Why would I need to bash Cell C? They seem to be doing a good job dissing themselves. ;)

It's a fact that the guys are reporting speeds all over PE of less than 2Mb/s, except for Elimentals.

Where's the 42Mb/s network they 'launched'? Is it just the one tower at the event?

BTW, check these 42M speeds reported in Durbs today ;)

so u probably do work for vodacom, pls enlighten us on how cell c is dissing themselves when u cannot provide proof of them being slow? have you ever used it? or did your bosses tel u not to?

EDIT: its not good enough for u just to say "it's fact that..." need more proof...

Easy. Cell C "launched" 42Mb/s in PE today. Even if you have a 21Mb/s modem, you should now get over 15Mb/s if the network must have enough capacity to service 42Mb/s towers.

Where are these 15Mb/s+ speeds in PE? The best we've seen so far is 21Mb/s AT THE EVENT.

Jan and Morkhans reported both speeds of less than 1 or 2MB/s at their hotel.

Embarrassing if the people you invite to your launch event get such low speeds?

Personally I love my little CellC speedstick with 2GB of data for R125 pm on a one year contract. It took VC about 6 months to come up with a decent response. In that time it's almost time for me to upgrade again :) My friends on VC are still stuck on 24 month contracts paying R189 for 500MB.

Your tests are Mickey Mouse compared to what we tested in PE tonight. Lowest was 31Mbps... suck on that!

Link or it did not happen. :)

And why could Lars only show 21Mb/s at the event if you're got a 'low' of 31Mb/s? Especially with a 21000 profile. Some cool magic you pulled there.

Guess you got a 'special' SIM your subscribers don't have? ;)

Since you obviously know, how many 42M towers are live in PE?
