Samsung Galaxy S II pricing and availability indicated by operators

What a relief that there is finally some news :) My contract is due in 2 weeks and I really can't wait. Glad MTN will have it, there were some concerns that they would not be stocking it.

I am still unsure if I want this or the HTC Sensation, but whoever is first to our shores gets my win, they're both fantastic phones.
 
my personal opinion is that you'll get a 120min (per second billing), 100sms, 250mB contract for R450 with a free handset from vodacom. been chatting a lot to the guys at vodacom. it might just be free on business talk for R185, too

I think it might be free on the Smart 120 package from VC. Lets see if it materializes.
 
HTCs on MTN are generally cheaper as HTC devices are subsidized by MTN. Maybe the Sensation would go for a bit less on contract. I really wanna see how SAMOLED+ looks IRL, videos dont do justice I presume

everybody's heard something bad about every other network...

news flash: they're all ****! Pick the one that takes the least money from you. In this case..No actually contract by contract it's every case, Virgin wins by a substantial margin.

If you are getting a new contract on VC or MTN, you're an idiot, do some research, the 3 other networks are substantially cheaper...

I have been with MTN for 8 years and they are the best I've used. Tried Virgin, VC and Cell C and found them all to be utter rubish. Cell C's network in my area is now good, but before the new network it was crap. Vodacom drops calls where I live and drive all the time, and I find the reception to be terrible where I need it. MTN on the other hand have proper coverage everywhere I would expect, unlike the others.

I said: "I have heard too many bad things about Virgin", not just "something" - lots! The bad things are not the usual that we expect from our operators, like terrible service and long queues, but actual network and quality issues - not something I can take a risk on.

That's why I won't go with them, but I am happy for you to - if you stop going around calling people you don't know idiots :)

Sorry that was a bit brash....my bad! :erm: Just get frustrated because people keep saying "Virgin or CellC are ****" with no real basis, it always hearsay - I mean if VC or MTN paid them a buck for everytime they say I could understand. Also frustrating that the same people then also just stick with the two companies that have the largest marketing budgets when the others are offering you considerably better deals.

I have two friends on Virgin who say they perfectly functional operator and they don't have any complaints. I myself am waiting for my MTN contract to end, not because of bad service, but simply because I know that I am paying about 25 -35% more that I would on either CellC or Virgin, you can see the price difference with the contracts displayed on this article alone.

Take these contracts from the article, MTN give you only R200 airtime. Just for calls this does not go far, never mind deducting sms's and data at R2/MB. Virgin are giving you R300 with NO sms's deductions and a far cheaper (70% cheaper) OOB rate. You are getting this ridiculously awesome phone but on MTN you are NOT gonna be using it to it's full potential - for me I just don't see the point.

Truthfully the winner is RBM, have you seen how much fun Android is with 500MB of data? That bundle is ridiculously cheap even without the data. My advice if you don't like the RBM phones, get the RBM contract and sell the phone and go buy your sensation or sII.

Again, sorry for being a pillock.
