Cell C Pre-paid and Control chat promotions vouchers

Yoh I can't believe this I just got 1Gig free without even expecting it after I recharged. My speed is good enough and stable for some time now so well done cellc this was a pleasant surprise

k mine's not quite doing that. I'm a 5GB prepaidpromospeedstickz user and I bought R50 via Internet Banking which got me the 500MB extra which is cool (plus the 50 SMSs which I don't really care about). I then immediately converted the R50 airtime into a 100MB data bundle because I don't need the airtime either.

I then went on a lekker downloading spree and the 500MB was used up first, leaving whatever remained of my regular 5GB p/m alone, which is cool. But now that the 500 MB is gone it's back to deducting from my main 5GB and not from the 100MB (which I guess will probably expire come next week unless I use up all of the 5GB first which I obviously don't wanna do).

When I check my balance I see:

My balance: Balance = R0.00 Expiry date:27/12/2030.Free Data = 100.00 MB. Free Data = 429.34 MB.Recharge Reward SMS = 50. Recharge Reward

(Just to be clear, that 429.34 MB is what's left of my regular 5GB and not what's left of the extra 500 MB which has already been used up).

Your 100Mb should have a 30 day window, and i think that is why it get used last.

why do you guys use the small bundles? R50 for 100MB = 50c/MB whereas the OOB rate is 39c/MB so you actually get more value by not taking the small bundles and just using the airtime. The two smallest bundles are both more expensive than OOB rates

I don't think the OOB thing applies to prepaid users. I get hard capped when I run out of my 5GB p/m and the only way to get back online is by purchasing a data bundle, afaik.

No, as long as you have airtime available you can keep on surfing after you exceed your cap. This deal is pretty nice to get through those final days of the month!

Admittedly I've never run out of b/w while still having any airtime left so if it works, I'll definitely take that route from now on (instead of buying the smaller bundles). Thanks!

I use the Cell C dashboard software. On the Services tab, select "Self Service (USSD)" in the drop-down, then the 2nd option (Data Bundles) and just follow the prompts from there. If you have the SIM in a phone, I believe dialing *147# will get you to the same USSD menu. There might be other ways as well that I'm not aware of.

Thanks. I did this from the dashboard software as you've described, and it worked.

Because of this promotion, I ported my mother's and GF's Vodacom prepaid number to Cell C.

That's 3 less Vodacom Prepaid clients this year, including me.

Vodacom only offers their clients 60 minutes to use between midnight and 05H00, Pathetic!

Hi i loaded R50 airtime on Friday not knowing about the promo is it only available on weekends or is it if i had loaded it on Monday would have had my 500mb all week?

You have until midnight on Sundays to use the SMSs + Data + Cell C to Cell C minutes. You keep the regular airtime that you paid for.

That's why it's recommended, that you recharge on Mondays which allows you 7 days to use the Data + SMSs + Cell C to Cell C minutes.

I bought R100 worth of airtime today, but haven't recharged. Can I recharge tomorrow (Monday) so that the data will be valid in the Monday to Sunday window?

If you bought a recharge pin that you haven't loaded yet, then yes. If it was via internet banking the recharge is applied pinless and immediately.

Thanks. I bought it from a tillpoint.

+1 Used it last week with R50 top up. Excellent - used the 500MB to update google maps on my phone. Still had 2gb left on my speedstick and my R50 for voice.....

Just something interesting that I've noticed:

When I try and check my balance right after I've purchased some airtime (via Internet Banking, if that matters) by clicking on "Balance Enquiry & Recharge" in the dashboard software, it shows me the following instead of the actual balance:

"Balance: The message has been successfully sent by SMS"

What "message" this refers to and what it contains is a mystery. I checked the Outbox and Sent Items folders in the dashboard software but there was no indication of any sent messages. It also didn't deduct anything from my SMSs balance. It only started happening after the rewards programme was launched. It corrected itself after a few days when the same happened last week, though.
