Hi all

Looking for some advice on smart case lighting. Case is a Corsair Obsidian 650D.

Nothing obtrusive like bright coloured LEDs as it must be dim (or dimmable via a control?). Not interested in UV reactive components either.

That said, I've heard that UV is one of the best ways for a dimmer look. I was thinking of perhaps mounting a UV CCFL on the side panel behind the mobo to get a dimmer look and a bit of an effect? Are the Vizo UV CCFLs good?

I've also seen those white LED strips where one can split the strips into what ever size you need and resolder on new adapters. So I could possibly place an LED (one) in certain places for a desired effect while still maintaining some dimness.

Appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance. :)

I would go with the LED strips option since they run on 12V and will be easier to connect up. If you want a dimmer control, I can point you in the direction on how to make your own and will cost next to nothing.

I got the http://www.landmarkpc.co.za/store/nzxt-sleeved-white-p-6819.html
they quite nice.. Have 3 brightness settings which you can see the difference...
you can always just turn them off as well :p
My room is pretty bright even with the curtains closed..

Saw some the other day (Lian-Li) and even under lighting they were bright. Although they do give off a nice colour.

Please point me in that direction. :)

At this point I'm leaning towards UV CCFL lighting as it's not too bright and gives a subtle look.

So here we are. This is the most accurate pic I could take, although IRL the UV lighting is even and not concentrated as in the pic. The red on the left is from a plug point:

Pretty happy with the result. Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

Yip, 650D.

Getting a replacement fan kit (and some other bits and bobs) UPS'ed, which they had to develop due to problems with the fan controller and 200mm fans. Not such a biggie, at least their after-sales service is second to none.

1 x ViZo starlet CCFL DUAL light tube + AC-Inverter - UV
1 x Vizo LED-RD-1000 - Led strips - Red , 60 leds , 100cm - to be mounted anywhere via double tape

Costs about R350 for all.
