DStv BoxOffice details for satellite based VOD service

So what's in the movie line up at the moment?
 
4-6 months AFTER it's available on circuit?
Are these people asleep or what?
 
It looks like it's for the desperate, only to be used as a last resort.
 
Did anyone ask why these guys are wearing their bath robes?
Looks like that was completely ignored!!!!!
Or are they trying to say that they did this in their sleep
 
This might have worked a few years ago, if they could have implemented it properly, but as they will find out that boat has long left the pier.
 
So they are only showing/repeating crappy movies, so that you go and rent the good ones? :P

The only way to beat TPB is to improve on their service because you cannot beat the price. What improvements have DSTV made? They put square corners on the wheel. Hell, my local video store does better than this. Fail indeed!

The service has barely got off the floor and everyone is already running it into the ground :mad:

I welcome this service with open arms because I don't need to waste my time going off to a dvd store (convenience is key).

The pricing is not that bad either (think about how much petrol you use, going to the shop).

Give the service some time to build itself up.

I wouldn't say that too quickly: the problem is not that we are ready to dump on something just for kicks, the issue is that we know better: there are more reliable, more affordable, more attractive LEGAL options throughout the "first" world and something like this is taking a step in the right direction, sure, but at the same time it is taking two steps back. A new release at my store will set me back R25 (same price) but it is available 4 months earlier AND on weekdays, I can take an older release for free with it.

And the petrol I "waste" going there would almost always be part of a visit to the liquor store next door or the Pick'NPay across the road. At most, the cost of said petrol is never gonna exceed R5 (for me anyways). My variety is far better to boot.

I do not see how this is depressive - hell, I welcome the competition (provided it is actually competitive).

Tend to agree with you - DVD stores get the same movies as what DStv will be offering and it costs the same. Beats having to go get the movie and taking it back + the HD content will be excellent
 
Meh, not interested. I feel R25 is just a bit steep, and its not DVD quality.
 
we're paying R600 per month to see the "latest" movies. Now we need to pay R25 on top of that to see newer movies? It would work great if you could rent movies without a dstv subscription
