Since the other Galaxy S 2 forum http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/310491-Samsung-Galaxy-S2 has cracked the 100 pages, I figured it's time to start some sub/focused threads for this awesome phone.

Please post your battery stats here, if you do not know how to find them then just follow the steps outlined below.

Click on the Menu Button and select Settings
Scroll down and select About Phone
Click on Battery Usage

In this view you can see (kinda) what the phone is expending battery life on and how long your phone has been running for on this charge. Also, tap on the graph at the top and you will get a better over view of what happened when.

Feel free to post your ROM/PDA/Phone/CSC as well (*#1234#)

LOL, wish I had taken a screen shot of the reason I started this post. Pulled a cracking 8.5 hours from a full charge, no 3G, wifi on all the time, FB app, G+, 3 email accounts, and a few other things running in the background. Thought thats no bloody good and killed wifi, BANG gonna pull 48 hours easy. No fun being disconnected tho ... :wtf: get withdrawals.
 
You can check, when I switch wifi on the phone chunes aaaaaaaaarrghhhhhhhhhhh.......
 
Wow all that just from wifi. Do you know which takes more battery life, 3g vs wifi? Gonna test this. Tomorrow wifi only, Thursday 3g only.
 
well same mine i was downloading via work free wifi and it hardly touched my battery for 2 days i was on 40% on teh second day and thats watching movies downloading and installing all at the same time
i almost cried :cry: it was so beatiful !!
can finally throw my iphone in the bin

Please post your phone's details, I think I should try different radios...

Most of the time, sometimes its Android OS. Ive got my brightness set to auto and just pulled 48hrs. Not heavy use, but took a few photos, some video, played a few games, bunch of sms's and 1 hour talk time. Im quite chuffed.
 
Im glad there's a thread for this !
seriously considering getting this phone, but people's experience of the battery life vary so much. Guess it has alot to do with usage, but good to see that guys like Subways81 getting
decent life . . . look forward to hearing more from other owners !

This is the same sort of experience the Galaxy I9000 owners had when the smartphone was first released. With firmware 2.1 or 2.1.2

Later fw upgrades came and now with fw 2.3.3 the battery life last about 30-32hrs with wifi on depending on usage

I downloaded an application called Mini Info with this I can see what rapes my battery, you will be amazed at the random crap running in your background that drains your battery life.

My battery is currently 3/4 full and I already did 18 hours :)

thanks . . . all these apps and monitoring software and firmwares sound complicated. Wud u guys recommend this fone for someone who's not so tech savvy, or shud i get something
like a iphone 4 instead?? this is going to be my first smartphone , had a BB previously.

Same here, Wi-fi off, Manual select to 2G, no apps running sent about two sms's made 4X 5 min call's battery lasted a whole 12 hours!

I have tried this app but all it does is take you to the battery usage graph/details that is built into the OS. Am I missing something here?

You can kill some of the applications from there, which cannot be stopped via Task Manager.
You can also move your applications from your internal memory to your SD card from there which is quite nice. If your internal memory get a bit clogged up

Called Samsung today, They confirm that the S2 has a very poor battery life, Vodakuk not willing to refund me for the phone, CPA does not seem to bother them. Oh well i have a R6500 door stop......
