BlackBerry Internet usage caps: Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and 8ta

Vindicates my decision to dump Vodacom for Cell C.

Good to know that Cell C don't have such plans (at this stage).

Don't mess it up now, Cell C!

For R50 on cellc you can get 50min, 50 sms and 500mb data anyway.

If usage caps are introduced by the other operaters, could it be considered market manipulation or collusion?

I think I'd consider it the end of Blackberry in this country tbh.

I find it strange that RIM agreed to 100MB though - knowing that everyone is going to simply wait for an upgrade in MAX 24 months and get another handset

Tbh the average user prob doesnt use more than 100mb, but I don't think that 100mb limit is fair, it's 3mb a day which is very minimal, a bit of browsing and email could easily use that in a day! I know they will only throttle bit I still think that threshold should be a little higher 300mb maybe? I don't know, this won't effect a large portion of the users though bb8520, doesn't even do 3G.

I have a 8520 atm and often receive and send attachments with it as well as do some quick edits with my dropbox files. Pretty sure I use more than 100mb, although nothing in the region of a couple gigs.

I'm on MTN and am very happy they haven't implemented capping on BIS. If they do, however, come time for my upgrade I will move to whichever provider hasn't, and it seems like that is currently Cell C. I don't care what their T&C's allow for. Don't screw up, MTN.

If this is the case end of the month we are going to port all our contracts over to cell c, this is ridiculous to be honest with you. I am thinking Vodacom, don't wanna spend money upgrading the infrastructure if already they have more than 1million active subscribers and R59 million is more than enough money to secure data internationally... I don't buy that the pipe was under strain if that was the cause throttle the users that abuse of the service or have a proper FUP - if u abuse u get banned from the network. Now everyone has to suffer for those supposedly "5%" abusers. I would like to question if they are now on a list of "abusers". Like iBurst had back in the day :)

Cell C spokesperson Karin Fourie said that they have no plans to limit the data usage on their BlackBerry Internet service.

Cell C FTW!!!
