BlackBerry downtime (10 October 2011): what you should know

bring on flat rated android devices!!!
BB go home!! back to Canada!!

It's sense it's all downhill for RIM from now on. They'll soon go the way of Nokia.

My BIS is still not working... I'm on Vodacom. This article sounds a bit fishy... If RIM was the problem previously, I doubt that the operators would take the fall for the bad service. Perhaps RIM has just created a scapegoat for the operators bad service. Anyway, the lack of communication from RIM, which they are notoriously known for, as to what is causing this outage is ridiculous. All they are giving is a generic cut and paste response. Not a happy BB user right now.

Not so. We knew about the BlackBerry issues for some time already, but the latest outage simply prompted the article.

RIM got a rimjob, end of. Move over crackberry, ya just got 0wned. Nope never owned a dingleberry, yet have to support the crockocrap, don't even know how to turn the stupid thing on. FB is quiet now, so thank you :o

The absence of publically available information about BlackBerry network problems means that the cellular operators may continue to suffer reputational damage while RIM is actually to blame.

... happens the other way too :/

RIM is going to lose clients because the cellular networks don't offer a decent Blackberry service - hence most are going to go to other brands. As much as I love BB, it's tiresome being with Vodacom and seeing the constant 'cannot resolve webpage' message or - if I'm fortunate - taking 40-60 seconds for each MyBB page to load.

After 5 minutes I've selected my sub-catagory, selected the thread to read and gone to page 2 of a thread before frustration sets in. Other phones is under a minute

rpm, those are some really strong allegations would love to see some stats on how many outages were experienced in the past and how many were attributed back to RIM.

+1

I am a fan and hoped they're manage to release handsets that can rival the Androids and iPhones. However with issues like these, they're speeding up the process of going to the grave

I read international news feeds and it seems like BIS services usually suffers midday in overseas markets. Whether this is purely network issues(congested links on network) there or the BB servers is an interesting question but then till today we've not had much issues like this so me thinks the former.

I will try to get official stats, but it is very difficult because neither RIM nor the cellular operators release this info. This is part of the problem...

Cool, please release what stats you do have.

Are you saying that our mobile operators are really that selfless that they would take the fall and apologise for a problem that was not their fault or not caused by them? This might just create a very unproductive precedent of finger pointing the next time we experience an outage.

Replaced my BB with android galaxy S2 - never looked back! goodbye RIM, RIP

After my bb acted like a doorstopper the entire day, it just received life a few moments ago. Everything seems to be working now all of a sudden. Am glad. Hope it lasts.

and which way did nokia go? , Nokia in it's indiviality still compete with an amalgamation on andriods handsets and if you have'nt heard Anna is a great os and soon all who are using Anna will be using Belle which is way better than gingerbread

Uninformed people (the majority of disconnected users) will blame the networks. It is simpler to just say sorry and get it over with, than to pass the buck.
