The ANC Youth League has vowed to block the release of a song said to be questioning the conduct of its leader Julius Malema.
“If they release that stupid song, we will hit them hard,” said league general secretary Sindiso Magaqa.
Izingane Zoma, a maskandi group, has released a single called uMalema to radio stations and is reportedly expected to be sold to the public next week.
The Mercury newspaper reported that the song accused Malema of criticising the ANC leadership and of being uncontrollable.
The same group released a hit on President Jacob Zuma before he was elected ANC president in 2007.
The song was called Msholozi, Zuma's clan name, and it called for him to be president and for corruption charges against him to be dropped.
Magaqa said his organisation would not allow the group to insult its leader.
“We will not allow them to do that. We know they did it before and they were successful but they will not win this time around,” he said.
He said the league would stop the release of the song in court and also sue the group for defamation.
Magaqa accused the group of being full of nonsensical tribalism.
“We know their existence is based on promoting tribalism. We will hit them until their handlers come out,” said Magaqa.
