R600 per month?

No thanks... I'll stick with OpenOffice... can't afford that.

Richard Vester, Executive Head, Hosted Services, Vodacom, said that the solution has been used without VoIP on EDGE networks without any capacity issues.

VC, Microsoft are already burying your wonderful new product.

Have you heard of Office 365? They have a package for give or take R50 per user per month that provides the following :

• Email & Calendar
• Office Web Apps - Word, Excel, Power Point and One Note
• Websites & Collaboration
• IM & Online Meetings.
 
If I am able to subscribe this for R600, I rather save up for a retail copy of Office Pro 2010. :wtf:

I am sorry, but I have tried Google docs and it's just not the same - even if its free it feels cheap, I'll rarther pay a small fee and have something that works better for me than something that is free but I hate to use
 
R600 per user per month may include:
• A thin client terminal
• A flat screen monitor, keyboard & mouse
• A Cisco VoIP enabled phone handset
• An HP Picture 6 or HP Laserjet M1536 MFP Mono Printer
• Access to the applications portal comprising of a wide choice of business applications

Works fine for my needs and certainly does not feel the same. You are welcome to pay for more advanced enterprise level stuff with google apps ;) Google Docs integrates well with the other Google servers and I understand if you dont know what you are doing or dont know how to use Google Apps properly then you might get the misconception you have.

Our entire office moved over to enterprise level google apps and its absolutely amazing. Its not free but no one else offers a system that comes close to it.

Why... because it doesnt have 2000 buttons on the toolbar you never use? Dont dismiss something as feeling cheap when you can edit a document and someone on the other side of the planet can see those changes (and make their own) in real time. Can your 2000 button Office do that? No it cant. So stfu.

VC you are crazy. A lot of us use Windows Live which gives us Cloud computing with 25GB free storage and Office docs for FREE, all we need is a valid Wondows Live ID.
Plus we can use this from our Windows Phone/Andriod etc.
Just wonderfull to use for backup as well.

ERP via flakey SA internet connection from a company whose core business isn't ERP....Yeah colour me unconvinced.

All of you are wrong, it's not R600 per user per month, it is "from" R600 per user per month depending on which applications are chosen...LOL @ Vodacom, you seriously live in your own little millionaire world don't you?
 
I can use Office, Excel and Powerpoint for free on my Windows Live Account
