8ta reduces prepaid data prices (January 2012)

How long does the data last for? A month, 3 months, year?

It's their standard prepaid bundles, so their usual terms must apply: http://www.8ta.com/plans/prepaid-data/

This shall be a Once-Off Internet Bundle. The bundle shall be valid until the end of the following calendar
month. Carry over shall not apply. Out of Bundle rate of R 1.00 per MB shall apply. Downlink and Uplink Speed applicable to this bundle shall be 7.2Mbp/s Download and 1.8Mbp/s Upload Speed.

I would also like to hear an answer to this question... its a pain in the @ss to buy data for tablets without getting tied down into month to month contracts... and the other alternative is pay as you go with data expiring after 2 months if you dont use it....

I am slowly but surely getting fed up with MTN's exorbitant pricing. 1GB for R289 and 2GB for 389! There is absolutely no justification for these rip-off prices. (I think Vodacom is more or less in the same league). These companies must be making a killing! I won't be renewing my four MTN contracts when they expire this year. I like the 8ta price cuts, it is just that I am a bit wary of how poor or good their data network is.

How is this any better than 2+1G for R149?

The 2+1 deal only works on 8ta towers.

8ta has a roaming agreement with MTN for when you go outside their coverage.

Their 10GB and 2+1GB deals don't let you roam onto MTN while their normal data bundles do.

Thanks for the reply Jan.

I am outside the 8ta network coverage area and all the yapping about the 2+1 deal really makes me sick and livid.
