Samsung Avoids Apple injuction in Germany

This could get very messy and will probably play nicely into Apple's (lawyers) hands. I think its bullshirt that Samsung has been allowed to get away with their copycat crap for so long anyway.
 
Hmm, very naughty of Apple and Samsung to copy the tablets out of the 1968 movie, "2001 : A Space Oddysey".

Good for Samsung.

The less these companies sue each other, the better for the consumer. Apple should just make peace with the fact that they don't own the idea of a tablet.
 
Its not that they want to be the only tablet, its that Android blatantly copied their design, even down to the look of the icons. Very off-side in my book.

Oh and Samsung ≠ Android as they have Bada and other phones as well.

Just to add, Apple done their fair share of coping as well, just ask Xerox among other things.

Dude I've used Samsung phones since the Omnia(windows 6.1), it is no secret that Samsung has copied Apple. After using Omnia I went and bought the Galaxy S. There is a big difference from the way Samsung packaged their phones before the Galaxy S, you could see where they got the idea from.

The Galaxy Tab 7" was quite different, but from the packaging and USB cable, you could tell where Samsung got its motivation from. What about the Touchwiz?

Other android makers have innovated and differentiated their products, why couldn't Samsung do the same? A good example of those companies is HTC.

Thats why I pointed out Samsung and not Android, and the reason I said universal is all the examples can be found in other devices not only phones, like the USB power plug or the box, as for the icons they all draw from iconic ideas thats what make them erm iconic I guess. Like I phone icon to symbolize pick-up and a microphone symbolize something that records. Next thing you going to tell me using an image of a torch to picture a portable light is unique to a certain manufacturer.

Sure Samsung should have done more effort to look a bit different that I do not argue but as the court decided in this case they only needed to change 4 icons and add a thicker silver band I guess we can let it rest.
 
How would you like it if you were the inventor of something and a big bully came along, stole your design and started selling more product than you?

I hope Samsung gets clobbered with this. I really do. They innovate nothing in this regard.

That would have been ok if tablets was a new invention which unfortunately they where not, tablets been around since 2000.

Remember the case here is about design patents nothing else and the only reason they exist is to protect the consumer. Its there so you dont get fooled into buying the wrong product. In this case I dont think anyone would buy a Samsung tablet thinking it was an iPad or a Galaxy phone thinking it was an iPhone, so it kind of make the whole argument mute.

I have seen this before. Do you know if the plugs, cables, etc are standard in other countries or not? For example: Here is a pic of another similar device.

Depends what you mean by "around". Also Android devices were basically looking like blackberry until iPhone arrived.

No but we can not say when they started as Apple is a company that can keep a secret* unlike Google where everyone knew it was coming. Unless you say Google spied on the iOS dev team?

No they did not. There where 2 UI's and if you go check out the 1st beta code you will see both in it. The OEM's went with the touch screen UI and did not produce devices with the BB like onse, there I can not argue that the OEM's thought it better to opt for the iOS'es look instead of the BB one.

*Unless the developer was drunk and left a dev phone on a bar stool.
