SABC defends ‘uneducated’ boss

The SABC is flourishing under a new regime and its acting chief operating officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, was among the people who deserved an accolade for saving the corporation millions by clamping down on wasteful and corrupt spending, says SABC board chairperson Ben Ngubane.
 
If that is the case, bully for him. At the very least, he isn't a MBA who would be running it with that "business process" mindset that has so screwed up the world in the last decade.
 
This may be another case of shoddy journalism combined with incompetence from the SABC. Removing the requirement for a matric qualification was just stupid when the requirements could have been expanded by a "relevant life experience" clause. This would also have focused on the present capabilities of applicants.
 
I find it strange that Ngubane managed to pay R 100 million to his debtors? Hopefully not; he should rather been paying his creditors!

Presumably it was just a typo or it's justification as to why management need to be educated.

For my money I would rather have a non-cadre, skilled person in a senior position. Yes it's sad that his impoverished background stalled his education but, like so many others, if there's a will there's a way to reach the finishing post.
