New Subaru XV

"Lineartronic"? Just call it a CVT already.

I do like them, but man... car prices... That sticker price would've bought the 2nd-hand cabbie we acquired a few months ago 3 almost times over. And I've got automatic wipers. :D

Did Subaru get a good deal on the old Focus shells from Ford? :D

Another Fugly Subaru.

Looks like a Proton or something. Those wheels?

Jap designs mostly really ugly these days besides a select few like the Accord, 86 etc).

I think it looks quite good.

Also, for the money, it has more features than the Sportage (which I reckon is its main competitor). I'll echo what Fazda's said before - drive a 5 year old Kia/Hyundai or a 5 year old Subaru and you will notice the difference in engineering.

OK - I'll agree that looks better, the orange one on the Subaru page looks terrible.

I don't know what Hyundai/Kia has to do with this. I don't think anyone will double that Subarus are much more capable AWD vehicles, pitty the majority look like ****.

Not many crossovers ever see the offroad. AWD never really sees much use.

Fair mentioning the ix35 an Sportage. Also the Nissan Quashqai.

We see the Qashqai as our major opposition, but they don't stand a chance when compared feature for feature.

Whether you like the looks or not, do yourself a favour and drive one, and then have a look at the standard spec. There's actually nothing in that price range that comes near it!

Just for the anti orange guys - here is a picture of my new company car....I don't notice the colour when I'm driving!! :p

Meet the new Subaru XV by PaulO Classic.- furious about Picnik being closed , on Flickr

On the site it looks quite ugly. I'm sure if I see one on the road i'll be quite impressed though.

ALway had a soft spot for Subarus.

YUP, definitely has to be seen in the flesh - it has quite a presence when you are standing next to it.

I have had nothing but raves from people who have come in, and I sold my first one on Wednesday when someone brought his wife in to sign for a Forester and changed his mind on the spot.

Does look good. Saw them in Cape Town.

the resemblance is rather uncanny...

so is the choice of colour...:)

but at least it's not square any more...:)

should be interesting to see how it does

for me, a big issue is always not having backup service around (rural location)...

which puts many brands out of contention when i have to choose.

It's not so much the colour, but the wheels just do not look right with orange. It looks fine on the black one posted above, but not with orange. If Subaru had chosen a more neutral design for the wheels, then I don't think that people's opinions would be so divided.

I really like the wheel design. For me it's the orange colour that's a no-no.

The car was designed with a particular market segment in mind, and it looks as if you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Previously on this site, people were bitching that the Forester was too staid or old fashioned - try and go in the other direction and we are too modern....

If we'd slapped a KIA or Hyundai badge on the thing, everyone would be saying what a beautiful car it was...

BS and you know it - I'll give you a list of ugly Koreans if it will make you feel any better about yourself. Have you ever said anything bad about a Subaru? or are they perfect... Not that I'd expect a salesman to say otherwise (no offence).

Funny enough the only people mentioning the Koreans and derailing their own thread is the Subaru fanboys, must have chip on shoulder :p
