Hi there

Can you please rate your Telkom ADSL connection on speed, stability and reliability? Do you get what you expected, or is your experience better or worse than what you expected.

Important: Please only rate your connection, NOT your ISP (that will come later)

It will be great if you can also tell us:

  • What can Telkom do to improve the service and make you a happier customer?

Please post your comments in this thread (by posting your views you will stand a chance to win an iPad 2).

I get a pretty decent speed out of my 1Mbps line... pretty much on par with the 83% (speed/linespeed).
It's never gone down from what I can remember.
Stability? Amazing.

Service improvement... I waited less than 5 minutes (on a Saturday morning) to upgrade from 384 to 1Mb. That's outstanding. The only thing that Telkom can do to make me a happier chappy is to either a)drop the price a bit (it is really expensive in comparison to 4Mb) or b)increase the linespeed from 1Mbps to maybe 2Mbps.

drop your stupid residential line cost!! im about to cancel actually because the cost for what i want is not justifiable anymore. but its been a good ride. might see you in a year, who knows? when you give me data/drop rental.

Reasonably happy. Connectivity is good. Speed is ..... well, what it should be, no more.

Bump speeds a bit more. Hoe bout 2MB for the same price ?

I'm quite happy with the reliability and performance of my line. There has been virtually no downtime on it.

If I was to be a happier customer, I would bump 1MB lines to 4, and 4MB lines to 10, and not change the pricing.

I'll be happy to pay 580 odd for MWEB 4MB uncapped lines :)

My line actually averages about 110kb/s for 90% of the time when I do a speedtest

I actually think its amazing...surprisingly! :)

I would like Telkom to drop the price though

I get a steady 110 to 130 Kbps which is great. The best part however is the low latency. I didn't get this line with gaming in mind, but I've been playing TF2 with no problem, even when my fiancée is playing Red Dead Redemption online at the same time. My total cost is About R715 for ADSL (Including ISP and Line rental) Basically I think that the speed could get a bump at the same price and the line rental "tax" should be dropped. I don't even have a phone connected to the line. Considering that I was spending This much per month on about 10Gb 3G it's actually a bargain.

In three months I have had one afternoon of downtime, perfectly stable.

This connection has actually improved since a few months ago which is awesome. It hardly ever goes down, and my latency is around 230ms for LoL which is also great as it used to be 270ms.
The speed is exactly what it should be as well which is awesome. I am happy with this connection.

In terms of improvement, I feel that prices could be lowered, rather than speeds increased (although it makes pretty much the same difference). Maybe you can lower prices AND increase speeds!
Otherwise, I am happy with the connection.

My experience is overall good. Awesome latency after 5pm. What they can do to improve- sort out the congestion so that latencies aren't so high during the day. Also a speed bump to 2mbps is I think the minimum if you look at what we pay. It took telkom 2 weeks to upgrade me from 384 to 1mbps! Its literally a 2 minute process. Its as if telkom didn't want more money from me.

(Since my line speed was sorted out) Speed, latency, consistency = awesome. Never had a single issue, getting full line speeds after hours. Literally stay on 115kB/s when dl via news serves. Would stay with them if the 4mb was better priced. If they have a 2mb at the same price or for a "little" more to the cost, they have me as a customer for life.

It's been working fine.

Just drop the damned price already, as well as the line rental on top of the ADSL rental.

We upgraded from 384kb to 1mb. It would've been nice if the 384kb was pushed to 512kb when 512 was pushed to 1mb.

When the line is good - no problems, but as soon as you have a problem with the line, don't expect it to be resolved quickly.
But other than that - no issues with speed, latency, consistency, etc.

I think my line speed has been really great since I got it installed. No issues so far :) touch wood

I haven't had to complain about anything so, no improvements I can think of.

Years ago when I first had it installed I had no end of problems. Now it is more stable than ever. I would like Telkom to carry on increasing my line capacity :D

I get full line speed 24/7 on their uncapped product - would like it to stay that way.

My only reason for giving them a 4 is because of the constant LCP down messages that require a router restart.

I get avg of 110 kb/s, so happy with that on a 1Mbps line, would be nice if they either drop the price or up the speed though.
