Google under scrutiny, get more filed complaints

Google hit with more complaints

Online travel agency Expedia on Friday accused Google of breaching EU rules with a formal complaint to EU antitrust regulators as it joined a dozen other firms that have taken their case to the European Commission in the last two years.
 
The EU watchdog is now investigating the world’s most popular search engine after rivals, including Microsoft, accused Google of abusing its dominant position in the market for Web search engines.

These days simply being the dominant player = abusing your position. I don't get it.

Indeed.

Google not being allowed to promote their services on their search engine first just does not make sense.

Correct me If I am wrong, but was there not a similar ruling where Microsoft had to give users the option of installing IE on windows?

If you ask me, that was BS as well. Although I think IE is absolutely useless, I can't fault Microsoft for including their software in their OS/platform.
 
I think its one of the strangest rules ever and for the life of me can not figure out where they draw the line exactly.

Examples:
Microsoft is must give users the option to select other browsers but is allowed to push Silverlight all over the place, yet there is no official support for it for Linux or other BSD's (Moonlight does not count as its not official)
Google not allowed to push their services but is allowed to push their browser on all the Android devices.

I can think of loads of services companies use that push their platforms elusively but you never hear people complain about them for example :
You can only compile and push iOS apps via a Apple Mac

So when exactly is placing your companies products 1st anti competitive?

Wasn't the complaint engineered by another browser publisher, Opera?
