Google increases free Gmail storage to 10GB

It's not the 10 000MB 10GB, more the 9024MB version - these varying GB standards are really confusing at times.

EDIT: Or maybe it's gradually increasing until it hits 10 000MB. I see my allocation has grown to 9082MB in the last couple of minutes.

Exactly! mine shows "21% full; Using 1954 MB of your 9098 MB"

Pointless.
I want to be able to send large attachments on gmail.

Their standard already keeps with the normal maximum email size allowed. Which is 20mb. Anything more than this and you would not be able to email 90% of the world. Email is not a technology designed for large files. Its like getting upset as South African Post office for not allowing you to mail a car through the normal mail system.

"Using 7461 MB of your 9131 MB "

Guess it changes over time, who knows?

I would prefer they increase my bloody Picasa limit

"You are currently using 123 MB (12.06%) of your 1024 MB."

Or a 25 gig for everything merged type of deal would rock.

That's part of Google Drive - you email the link and they can download the file bypassing the email restrictions. I think Google Drive max file size is 10GB (assuming you have the storage capacity).

It is definitely increasing - I'm up to 9183MB

I'll probably end up subscribing to their 25GB account for backup purposes. Parents complaining about the security of their docs.

I have been using gmail for all personal e-mails since 2005. For many years the increase in mailbox size kept the % full at around 5. I notice that this increased to 13% recently. It seems they are not keeping up!
At 13% I obviously have no reason to complain, so just a comment!

Who can use Drive already? I had to click on a button to notify me when it will be ready :-(
