Takealot increases minimum order size for free delivery and changes checkout defaults

Since Takealot closed a semi-close pickup point in my city, I haven't used them (>1 year now). Been using Amazon and everything has been better - from prices to delivery speeds. And I get to choose lockers for delivery as an option on Amazon-stocked items.

Instead, the company promotes its TakealotMore subscription service with a banner underneath the delivery fee and a “You could save R95/R75” notice.
They've become more invested in selling you takealotmore than providing a great baseline service.

I honestly don't give a crap about free delivery. I'm more concerned about the fact that Takealot consistently breaks their promises of same-day or next-day delivery. I'm more than happy to pay whatever the cost of delivery is, but for the love of God, if you say an item is available for same-day or next-day delivery then honour that promise when you get to the checkout section.

They do realise that, for a lot of items, they no longer have a monopoly?

Amazon and the likes are going to eat their cake. Amazon still has huge room to expand their offering.
Amazon is cool... but it's touch and go with 3rd party sellers. If you need to return to a 3rd party seller it's on you to get the thing couriered/shipped back to them yourself. Where with takealot, no matter the issue they come FETCH the thing the same way they dropped it off.

For me, for NOW, I will mostly still stick to Takealot where it makes sense.

I have a Takealot more sub and a Amazon Prime sub so I use whichever gives me the best price. I haven't had a same day delivery not be delivered and the next day deliveries that hasn't come through are very few and far between.

Takealot is pricing itself out of the market. There are other options.
Bobshop is great with its R35 standard delivery fee, and thee are many others. I seldom visit Takealot these days unless for research purposes.
