I have read some bad stuff about this phone on GSMarena....something about a yellow tint in the screen and bad battery life. I hope it gets sorted. I have to admit..it is a beautiful phone.

XDA Threads http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1515

How to root:

1st You will need ADB and Drivers working with an Unlocked bootloader, then you can:
  • Download the Xperia S 63 Rooting Firmware Package or Xperia S 67 Rooting Firmware Package to your computer. Once it’s done, you then will have to turn Off your device so that it can then be entered in the Fast boot recovery mode.
  • Turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable for entering the device in the Fast Boot recovery mode.
  • Now, you will need to open the command prompt in your computer and then enter the below mentioned command as mentioned below,
    Code:
    fastboot flash system system_xps_prerooted_63fw.img
    or
    Code:
    fastboot flash system system_xps_prerooted_67fw.img
  • Once the process of rooting is done, the device will be restarting and there you go, you have successfully rooted your phone.

In all fairness There was the same issues on the Motorola RAZR but yeah I hope I dont get one with the issues mentioned ;)

As for the battery life, I will just have to live with it, its not like they going to release a Xperia S MAXX... well I hope not. cause then I will be an unhappy chappie.

LIEZ!!!!! The RAZR was launched in a flawless state!!!

:p

Don't make me come over to your RAZR thread and post all the youtube video's I have seen of unhappy customers and da yellow screens... :p

Now shu!! off with you, unless you sell that crappy brick of yours with the fat lip on top and join people with a real phone with style :)

I have had this phone for about a month (from UK) and everything has been fine.

No yellow tint, and the battery life is the same as all smartphones - lasts for days under light use, and less than a day under heavy use. Yesterday I was using it heavily, with hot spots, 3G, lots of talking, browsing, messaging - managed to just make it home late afternoon before the battery went.

I carry a 5000mAh external battery pack (smallish, nifty device) with me, but did not need it.

IMO best phone on the market - was comparing it to an iPhone 4s last night, just no contest. The Sony has a better screen, larger screen, much better camera and better functionality. Oh, and it doesn't need iTunes !

Well I can not say the battery will last well, not for the 1st week of ownership at least, gonna be killing it all the time, in fact its charging right now :(

you had an SGS2 right? how does it compare battery wise?

edit: I might be mistaken about Elimentals but if anyone of you guys can give your battery time or better yet a screen shot or two of your battery usage and screen on time that would be great.

So what happened to the DHD?

Had a HTC Desire HD. Have a buyer for it.

Can not comment on battery, would need it to run on normal use. For now I killed a full charge in 7 hours easy. but thats because I am playing with it and screen is on all the time.

What I can comment on is its a crapload faster than the old DHD.

If you think about it, does the playing on Android ever stop? :D
