MWEB Uncapped Business Account Cisco Router

Will go check in the server room quickly...

Cisco 877 Router

They don't give you any access to the router but they will configure it for you, or make changes for you when you request...

Hi MWEB

Any chance of looking at one of these MWEB Cisco configs ? ( Obviously without the private detail )

Hi b@nD

You will have to speak to our Business department as they deal with the Cisco routers.

Who do not have a spokesperson on MyBB ?

Anyone else scratched around in one of these MWEB Cisco routers and care to share what they found ?

( I am NOT interested in any sort of "black-hat" nonsense -- just increase my tiny little bit of Cisco knowledge )

Mweb Guy is here to help out consumers, not to increase your knowledge of Cisco.

Indeed

It is called going above and beyond

Great -- thanks for info
Sight of a config would be greatly welcomed :)
I picked up two 2851's on auction ;)
Are those "dying-gasp" ADSL WIC's ?

By bonded do you mean PPP Multilink ?

L2TP is normally associated with a VPN ?

Had it, but don't anymore unfortunately.

No. HWIC-1ADSL. There's huge differences between the WIC-1ADSL (old and dying), and the HWIC-1ADSL, which is ADSL2+ compatible. HWIC cards also can't go into normal WIC slots.

By bonded do you mean PPP Multilink ?
Yes.

L2TP is normally associated with a VPN ?
Yes. It's a Multilink PPP VPN over the RFC1918 addresses.

MWEB can't to MPPP directly on the Dialers. This would mean that Telkom would need to support MPPP, which they don't. The only way to circumvent this, is to allocate static addresses to the actual dialers (RFC1918 in MWEB's case), and then establish an MPPP VPN (using L2TP) over the Dialers. If I recall correctly, it's something like this.

Dialer1 - 10.x.x.1
Dialer2 - 10.x.x.2
Dialer3 - 10.x.x.3
Dialer4 - 10.x.x.4

Static Route: 196.4.x.1 -> Dialer1
Static Route: 196.4.x.2 -> Dialer2
Static Route: 196.4.x.3 -> Dialer3
Static Route: 196.4.x.4 -> Dialer4

Virtual-PPP1: pseudowire to 196.4.x.1
Virtual-PPP2: pseudowire to 196.4.x.2
Virtual-PPP3: pseudowire to 196.4.x.3
Virtual-PPP4: pseudowire to 196.4.x.4

All the Virtual-PPP interfaces are then integrated into an MPPP session.

Cannot -- or Will Not ?

MWEB can't to MPPP directly on the Dialers.
This would mean that Telkom would need to support MPPP, which they don't.

Telkom want you to go for one of their ( very expensive ) fixed line options ? ( Diginet , Matis , Frame Relay , MPLS etc etc )

MWEB business uncapped original router config http://pastebin.com/Ssmb7pem

Happy happy thanks

Now I have some homework :D

(You can't copyright a config can you ? ) ;)

EDIT
That config looks very much like an 877W do MWEB supply these ?

No CBAC or Zone security , Not much use made of the VLAN's ( the four port switch is a proper managed switch ) these routers are almost like layer 3 switches ? but some other interesting stuff.

I have a question, Is it possible to use a Mweb Business Uncapped ADSL account with a 3rd party modem/router?
I'm trying to setup a mikrotik router connected to a bridged modem.
I have my l2tp & pppoe connected on the mikrotik but cannot get the static IP's setup properly.
I can see the traffic coming into the mikrotik if I ping one of the ip's though. I think it's my routing :/
Is it possible to do a setup this way or do I have to go with a router from Mweb ?
