So a Telkom techie is supposed to install my adsl line today

It is now 12:54pm and he hasn't called. Should I worry? I've only been waiting since September 2011.

I was gonna make a snarky joke about expecting him sometime in August but now that I think about it, the Telkom techies have been quite on the ball recently in my experience.
 
Lol I ordered an ADSL line from Telkom on the 16th of May 2012 and they came and installed it on 21 May.
On Tuesday 23 May Telkom phoned to check that I was satisfied with the service and that all was in order.

Atleast you got an installation date.

My order has been pending for over 2 yrs now....no infrastructure / no cables etc.... and after 2 yrs the same excuse still applies.

:(
 
Called the call centre now. They tried contacting the techie. After two attempts of his phone going to voicemail, the operator cut my call.
 
Picture this: I placed a order for mine on 14 April 2012. Installation date was arranged for 17 May 2012... more then a month later. Fast forward till that day and I waited...waited and waited. Guy showed up after 2pm and left in an hour....now they need to repair the underground cabling which will take another few weeks until they send that crew out....then the installation guy has to come again....so in short il probably wait bloody 5 months before I get my line:cry:
Lets hope yours run more smoothly

Doesn't look like it. It's now 16:13 pm and still no word. I wouldn't mind if he just called to say he ain't gonna pitch.

Start a new thread in the ISP section titled "Which ISP should I use?" - say how you have heard good and bad things about all the ISPs and that you are hesitant to sign a contract...

The different reps will jump in and offer you test accounts! :twisted:

If it makes you feel any better, I've waited since september last year.
While I'm here, I did a speed test last night and got 0.86mb down and 0.43 up on a 1mb line. Is that decent?

I dont really want to start a new thread. Does anyone know where I can check my telkom data usage?
