What is up with monitoring and reaction units? Surely when a cable gets cut the NOC gets a down notification and points the position of the break immediately??? Secondly why no GSM or such devices on the manhole covers which send an alert when moved? Surely the cost for this is not too much of an issue when buying on the Telkom scale??

Yeah. They should totally invest in teleportation technology so that their private police force can get to the crooks instantly.

Then they could also sell a service where you just teleport your whole HDD across;)

Doesn't SANRAL have a whole rent-a-cop regiment with nothing to do?

I reckon a couple of smoke grenades and a flash-bang or two strapped to the inside of each manhole cover would be a pretty efficient way of alerting people to what is going on and giving the bandits a good scare! Pretty sure a show like that would coax the police in to the area.

Maybe a nice Tesla coil that fires up once the cover is opened...
