I know someone who just bought a Cell C 3GB 365days Data SIM for R399 last week to use in their smartphone. They tried to buy a normal SIM and a 3GB R399 data voucher but were told they could not as it is "not done like that anymore". Not sure how true that is??
When I checked the 141 options for them, the "99c for real" was not available on this SIM.
They went to a Cell C store and were told that "99c for real" is not available for that type of data SIM.
Needless to say they were very disappointed![]()
Then I wonder what would happen if you do it the other way around. I.e. first buy a 99c for real sim, or convert an existing number, and then try to load the 3GB voucher?
Just ask in Cell C store. It is called 3GB Smartdata Voucher R399. Not in stores selling airtime. This is not ordinary airtime voucher.Sounds like they were told (misled?) they could NOT load the 3GB data voucher on a normal voice sim, but only a data sim.
Doubt that is true? Unless something has changed?
Welcome to Cell-C's pre-paid menu
You have the following options:
For balance enquiry, press 0
To recharge, press 1
To change your tariff plan, press 3

Both are ex-5GBx12 SIMs.Your selection was not successful. Goodbye.

I tried converting my sim to the 99c deal and keep getting the error: 'This selection is not valid, goodbye' after pressing 3 on the voice menu system... It's just told me to press 3 to change my tariff plan, then it says goodbye and hangs up :wtf:
Trevor used to be funny, but now he is just downright rude.I tried converting my sim to the 99c deal and keep getting the error: 'This selection is not valid, goodbye' after pressing 3 on the voice menu system... It's just told me to press 3 to change my tariff plan, then it says goodbye and hangs up :wtf:
I have had the same, seems to happen on old data sims, and maybe a few others besides.
There is no indication yet on whether they can / will fix this.
If you don't need to keep the number (I didn't), just get a new 99c for Real sim.
I tried R25, did not help!
