Samsung could be moving away from Android?

I think Google will throw a party when TouchWiz will be gone as all Samsung has done with it is to break Android and create a very poor user experience/opinion. First thing to do on any Samsung Android device is to root it and get another rom loaded. Pity.

If this will happen, Google's Android OS may very well be in some trouble....

Why would they get rid of the OS that has made them the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world?

It doesn't make sense.

I doubt Android will ever be in trouble. Google will not allow it. Android is just too good not to have a strong following. There will always be manufacturers offering Android devices and with Motorola now part of Google they will make sure the market gets what it needs. Samsung is keen to be a complete player (hardware + OS) but their efforts in the OS arena has not been good to date. Maybe they can turn things around but I'm not holding my breath.

Seriously don't get this, what do they think will replace android? Bada?

Firstly where in those statements can you get the impression they're moving away from Android? Secondly HOW does the S3 defragment Android in any way?

No, not Bada.

I don't know if you've heard of something called Windows 8 that will be out pretty soon.

I hear the company that makes Win8 has also released a tablet of its own.

My guess would be that Samsung wants to diversify the software that they use, not necessarily abandon it, meaning their new phones could be running software in parallel for instance the SIV (to be released next year - hypothetically) could be running Android and WP8. So would their next tablet/s.

This is a warning to Google that there are other options.

I think it would be really dumb if they do so. The only OS for phones that are surviving is Apple's iOS and Google's Android OS. It is a bit too late to come in with your own shady Operating Systems for phones now, unless they want to join the Windows Phone and Symbian Club.

Well i will buy what ever phone has android on it then, Samsung will loose a lot of market share should they ditch Android....

Please make it so....please.

Samsung leaving the Android world would be a dream come true. No one knows how to stuff up the OS like they do.... well they second on the list, Sharp is still 1st on top.

When Google decided to embrace channel conflict it lit a fire under all the Android heavy manufacturers to start looking at alternatives.
