Google Nexus tablet details leaked online

1280 x 800 = Fail, thats so yesteryear, hell my 4.3" phone can do that.

1280x800 is awesome on 7". Pixel density is quite excellent IMO.

Funny, most laptops are 15" screens that are 1336x768 or 1280x800. Plus they're TN panels with 200:1 contrast ratio

Agreed. Can we please get an Android tablet to at least rival the iPad 3's display, if not beat it. I don't like Apple products, their OS, or their ecosystem, but they currently have the best combination of hardware specs on a tablet. I don't want to be forced to buy crap, from either Apple or the Android OEMs.

Laptops and tablets are different form factors, with different viewing distances. Comparing their resolutions and pixel densities makes no sense. It's like saying a 32" HD-ready TV looks awesome, and this resolution and pixel density should be good enough for digital projectors in cinemas.

1280x800 IPS on 7" is great. Heck even the original Galaxy Tab 7" display looked fantastic at 1024x600, IMO. At a price of $200-250, yes please!

I get your point but a laptop is still viewed at a fairly close distance, and generally laptop screens need to step up. They're too damn low resolution and the worst kind of TN. Anyway, that era is finally drawing to a close as IPS is becoming a mainstream technology.

The reason why Apple has the lead on the other manufacturers with displays is that they literally bought out every factory out there that makes those high-end displays. Nobody can compete with their purchasing power.
